CADDS 4X now works on UNIX workstations. Bigger screen and better response time. But the workflow remain the same. Fixed views and keyboard typed commands..
Later CADDS 5 will bring some improvements but nothing revolutionary.

EUCLID 2.3

Our company works for MATRA Automobile and has purchased EUCLID, the CAD software from MATRA Datavision.
I am intrigued by this new tool. Its aesthetic and sober interface. Its rigorous workflow and advanced functionalities.

Moving CVs one by one, only by entering numeric values. Not any "align" tool. No interactivity, no realtime feedback of your actions. A phong shading available only through rendering...Compared with today's softwares, EUCLID looks a bit prehistoric But already, full control on the view with the mouse and a very efficient object managing system without real equivalent in ALIAS.

In August, a EUCLID workstation is available, I start on it on my own.
Shifting from a software to another takes time. A new logic to understand, new habits to get. But, compared with the efforts I made to convert from hand drafting to CAD, it's quite easy.

Three years later, having changed from CADDS to EUCLID will give me the possibility to work at Renault. And then learning ALIAS and eventually shifting to digital modeling. Unless this little moving on the story could have been different.
